Shipshewana, Ind. — For their dedication to tourism in Shipshewana, Jolene Troyer and Jamye Bley have been honored with Hoosier Hospitality Awards.
Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch delivered only 11 Hoosier Hospitality awards from a possible 92 counties and two recipients from Shipshewana were recognized for their unwavering commitment to hospitality in meeting, greeting, and going above expectations in serving the community.
The statewide program highlights individuals and their contributions to tourism. The recognition of Jolene and Jamye with these prestigious awards underscores the inviting atmosphere of Shipshewana Trading Place in Shipshewana, marking it as a remarkable destination to visit in northern Indiana.

Jolene, an employee of 27 years at the Farmstead Inn & Conference Center, oversees the cleaning of 150+ rooms, common areas, and trains staff to ensure guests are taken care of. “She motivates and energizes the entire Farmstead Inn staff with her stories and wisdom. Jolene always has the perfect quote, motivational saying, or Bible verse to help in every hard situation,” said Hannah Brock, Farmstead Inn Manager. “She deeply cares that every single guest has the most memorable experience while they are here.”
Jamye works at the Shipshewana Auction & Flea Market and is committed to elevating customer experience. “Jamye encounters hundreds of vendors, thousands of shoppers and her amazing positivity shines through with each encounter every single time.,” said Michael Christner, Shipshewana Flea Market Director.
“We strive for exceeding our customers’ expectations and having employees like Jamye and Jolene is a blessing and honor to create a welcoming environment for all guests and visitors so they have the desire to return creating traditions and amazing experiences while visiting us,” remarked Keith Lambright, owner of Shipshewana Trading Place.

The tourism industry is an integral part of Shipshewana's economy. Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch delivered the awards at a ceremony in Indianapolis on October 29. Jolene and Jamye, along with nine others, received prestigious recognition for their contributions to tourism, which have increased the success and reputation of Shipshewana as a tourist destination.
As recipients of the Hoosier Hospitality Awards, Jolene and Jamye continue to set a high standard for hospitality in Shipshewana, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
