Shipshewana Antique Festival Offers Vintage Market, Steam & Gas Show and Swap Meet
Shipshewana, Ind. — The annual Shipshewana Antique Festival will be August 5th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farmstead Expo Barn in Shipshewana, Indiana. This anticipated event will feature an outdoor pavilion full of antique dealers, the Shipshewana Steam & Gas Show, an Antique Phone Show and a Swap Meet.
Collectors, antique enthusiasts, or anyone with an interest in vintage and repurposed décor will love shopping the vendors, who will carry a variety of antiques including furniture, art pottery, country, stoneware, books, prints, primitives, jewelry, glassware, postcards, quilts, toys, advertising and vintage textiles.
“This has been a true antique market for over 15 years with all merchandise being offered from the 1970’s and older or a repurposed item of material from the same time period,” said Chuck Haarer, event organizer.
Also featured will be the Shipshewana Steam and Gas show which will highlight the way of life in centuries past. Steam-powered engines will be on display, with demonstrations including field plowing, sawing and wheat threshing. Old trades will also be highlighted such as blacksmithing, woodcarving, coppersmithing, weaving, and woodturing.
A swap meet will be held across the street just south of the Red Barn shops from daylight to 1 p.m. The swap meet is similar to a garage sale with all kinds of items including animals, tools and plants.
Visitors to the festival can also go to the Antique Telephone Show, held inside the Farmstead Inn and Conference Center. There will be tables full of antique phones and parts for the public to view.
All events are free, but there is a $3 parking fee. Food and entertainment will also be on the grounds.
