The LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation and Town of Shipshewana are excited to announce the plans for construction of a new recreational vehicle service center at the Shipshewana Trading Place. This comes after the Shipshewana Town Council unanimously approved tax abatements on real estate improvements and new equipment, an investment that is expected to be in excess of $1.0M.
The newly created Shipshewana Trading Place RV Service Center plans call for construction of a 17,500 square-foot building that will serve as their customer service center located just southeast of the RV Campground. These investments will allow Shipshewana Trading Place RV Service Center to operate with state of the art, high-tech equipment and provide a superior level of service to their customers. They plan to offer custom services as well as recreational vehicle warranty work. The project will result up to 15 new employees with an average wage of $42,000 per year.
“We are very excited to receive approval from the Shipshewana Town Council for our abatement requests relating to our proposed service center,” said Brian Lambright, Director of Operations at the Shipshewana Trading Place. “We are eager to get this project underway and strengthen our continued partnership with Shipshewana and LaGrange County. The primary factors that led to us locating this facility in LaGrange County and the Town of Shipshewana were the quality workforce, favorable business environment and commitment from the LaGrange County EDC to assist in bringing it to fruition.”
"The Shipshewana Trading Place has been a very strong partner within LaGrange County. Their commitment to make this significant investment in LaGrange County and the Town of Shipshewana demonstrates the favorable business climate in our community.” said Ryne Krock, President & CEO of the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation. "The continued growth of the recreational vehicle industry overall has driven increased demand for service providers, and Shipshewana Trading Place will help to meet that demand. The LaGrange County EDC is proud to partner with a strong business entity with a proven track record of success.”
Leaders expect the project to be underway by 3-22-16, and anticipate construction to be complete and the facility to be fully operational by August 2016.
