Vendor Spotlight: Sue’s Miniatures & Collectibles

Post Date: Jun 27, 2017

For 30 years, Sue's Miniatures & Collectibles at booth 866 has been a Shipshewana Flea Market favorite for home decor and woodcrafts

Sue's Miniatures & Collectibles is family owned by Sue and Jerry Smith, their son Dean and their grandson Aaron.

Aaron, a soon-to-be sophomore at Trine University, won the Shipshewana Flea Market vendor scholarship in 2016, an annual award to deserving college-bound students who have worked the flea market. Aaron helps in Sue's booth, and even helps make the wood crafts.

"We all help," said Jerry. "All of the wood crafts in our booth are handmade, from the birdhouses and feeders to the shelves and paper towl holders."

Sue started setting up at the Shipshewana Flea Market in the same vicinity as her booth is today, 30 years ago!

"I started with my brother selling cut out signs and miniatures," said Sue. "Miniatures have gone out of style lately, but we kept the name."

Now, you can find a variety of home decor, kitchen items, shelves, runners, plates, sconces, dish towels and bird feeders. Great for a country home, or for anyone who appreciates primitive decor!

"My favorite part about being a vendor out here is the friendships you create," said Sue. "I have several customers who have bought from me for years, and they always come by to say hi!"

You can shop Sue's Miniatures & Collectibles at booth 866 at Gate 16 each Tuesday and Wednesday through September at the Shipshewana Flea Market. You are sure to love the decor and handmade woodcrafts!
