This Amish-Owned Shop is Shipshewana’s Best Kept Secret for Amazing Deals
Like a good bargain? How about camping supplies? If yes, then you've got to visit E&M Sales in Shipshewana.
E&M Sales, located at 6580 W 550 N in Shipshewana, Indiana, is a charming shop off a country road with discount merchandise, camping supplies, gift items and more.
E&M Sales is owned by an Amish gentleman named Maynard. He opened the store in May of 2016 because there were no other stores in Shipshewana at the time that sold camping supplies.
"I enjoy camping, so I wanted to offer camping supplies," said Maynard. "I've always liked the outdoors."
You'll find the camping supplies in a separate section of the store. Everything you would need for tent camping or camping from an RV is there. The camping section features some locally-made items as well including grills, campfire rings, drying racks, rugs, cornhole boards and games.
"I offer quality camping supplies, and when possible, I get it locally made."
E&M Sales' number one selling product currently are their camping chairs. I had the chance to sit in one of them, and they are great! So much sturdier and more supportive than a normal camp chair. Plus, the bottom doesn't dig into the backs of your legs! They also offer rocking camp chairs...how cool!
Recently, Maynard decided to expand his store's offerings to include all kinds of merchandise at great prices.
"Camping is only seasonal, so I decided to also offer discount merchandise." Maynard said. "We get in closeouts, returns, and surplus, but I always check the merchandise to make sure it's quality and working."
You will find all sorts of goods, and they are always changing! There are bargains on tools, bedding, toys, furniture, home decor, beauty supplies, Everything from tools to bedding to toys to furniture...there are lots of bargains inside.
Maynard and his family even live right next door to the shop.
He is all about providing friendly service - talking with each customer who ventures inside.
"My store is not fancy," said Maynard. "I'm more concerned about connecting with people than I am about moving product."
