The Re-purposed Furniture in this Tiny Shop in Shipshewana is to Die For
There's an amazing shop tucked in on Harrison Street that should belong on everyone's bucket list who visits Shipshewana, Indiana.
If you love artistic, quality and repurposed items for the home, you'll love 2 Chicks and a Chair.
2 Chicks and a Chair is owned by Dodi and Jack Oxenrider. Their storefront, located at 155 N Harrison St, opened in August of 2018, yet their love for repurposing and creating unique items goes way back.
"About seven years ago I started re-doing chairs because I quit teaching and needed something to occupy my time," said Dodi. "Then it turned into something bigger. We started going to shows and markets, but we got tired of packing and moving all of the time. That's why we opened this store!"
You'll be amazed at the beautiful handmade furniture and vintage items for sale inside this quaint shop. There are even live edge tables and industrial steam punk designs.
"Jack does all the industrial and wood tables," said Dodi. "Everything in here we made ourselves."
Whether you're looking for chairs, tables, desks, shelves, bars, or even cute collectibles, you'll find it here.
"I'm a regular picker at Shipshewana Auction," said Dodi. "This is our hobby – we enjoy it."
Jack and Dodi have a long history in Shipshewana, Indiana. They have fond memories of summers at Shipshewana Lake, and both of their sons were born in nearby Lagrange.
So it was a no-brainer to open up a store on beautiful, walk-able Harrison Street in town.
"I love meeting people," said Dodi. "People come in and give feedback or tell us that it's their favorite store...that feels good."
You can visit 2 Chicks and a Chair in Shipshewana right now during their winter hours on Fridays and Saturdays, 11am-5pm. Hours will change for the spring and summer season, so be sure to check their Facebook page for updates!
