Shipshewana, IN Getaway for the Girls
Grab your friends for a fun filled trip to Shipshewana! This itinerary is jam packed with shopping, good food and fun entertainment. Relax in Indiana's Amish Country with your girlfriends!
Morning
Kick off your morning with a great breakfast at the Shipshewana Auction Restaurant* - try out the haystack (a local favorite) and be sure to ask about the delicous pies to share with the girls!
*Open Wednesdays & Fridays, 7 am - 2 pm; plus Tuesdays During Flea Market Season
After breakfast, it’s time to shop the flea market. The Shipshewana Flea Market (open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May through September plus extended market dates) has nearly 700 open-air booths so that you can literally shop til’ you drop. You and your friend group will love browsing the decor and crafts, plus you’ll catch some sweet deals on items like plants, home decor, makeup, perfumes, purses, tools, cleaning supplies, games, candles, fabric, fruits & veggies, flowers, cookware, books and more. See all the season has to offer in our Online Vendor Directory.
We also have plenty of fun to be had during the off-season, because the good news is the Shipshewana Antique Auction runs Wednesdays year-round. Many visitors have made it a fun outing and you will love bidding on unusual items that you never knew you couldn't live without until you get in the bidding mood!

Afternoon
If you’re in the mood for lunch, grab a quick bite at one of the three flea market food court stands (Seasonal, May through September) within the market. Don’t forget to also check out the Fry Pie Booth for a delicious cool flavored lemonade or iced coffee!
After you’ve finished shopping the market, take a stroll in downtown Shipshewana to browse the many unique shops and cafes. Sit and have a snack on the 3rd floor rooftop of the Davis Mercantile at Millie’s Market Cafe, or grab a mid-afternoon pick me up latte from Kitchen Cupboard.
Evening
For dinner, consider these dining options: Blue Gate Restaurant & Bakery (inviting atmosphere, great home-style cooking, friendly service and all the baked goods your heart desires), Wedgewood Brewing Company (fresh local food, cocktails, and a wide craft beer selection), or Das Dutchman Essenhaus (Indiana's largest restaurant with homestyle American fare in a folksy setting.)
For evening entertainment, check the theatre and concert schedule at the Blue Gate Theatre or Michiana Event Center. More than likely, there is a play, a comedian, or musical act showing that you and the girls will love.
Where to Stay
The Farmstead Inn & Conference Center is right in the middle of Shipshewana - giving easy access to all that the area has to offer. Large guest rooms can accommodate your group, plus the large indoor pool and hot tub make it a great girls’ getaway.
