Discover the Flavors of Shipshewana Flea Market
Shipshewana, Indiana is home to the largest flea market in the Midwest! If you love a good festival atmosphere, this busy market is sure to satisfy your tastebuds! From the variety of foods prepared right here in the market, to packaged foods and snacks you can take back home, there is something that will please even the pickiest of eaters.
1) Full-Service Food Courts
As you enter into the market through the main entrance, right next to the scooter rentals and information booth, you’ll be drawn in by the amazing smells of Nelson's™ famous BBQ chicken and Pit-tatoes® smoking and filling the air. These can be purchased in the food courts all around the market, along with a number of delicious sandwiches (including the amazing pulled pork, one of my favorites), wraps, and sides that will fill your tummy after a full day of flea market treasure hunting.
2) Food Trucks
Nearby, you’ll find food trucks that include homemade items like pierogies (a scrumptious filled dumpling) to lemon shake ups. Plus, all over the market you will discover something good including freshly blended smoothies, flavored iced coffees, tacos, shaved ice and soft pretzels, kettle corn and homemade cookies, cinnamon rolls and more sweet treats!

4) Shipshewana Auction Restaurant
From its beginnings in 1930 to today, one thing that hasn’t changed is that you will get a great home cooked meal and a friendly greeting when you order up some of our Favorites at the Auction Restaurant. You will find some of the usual casual dining flavors, along with our local and homemade favorites like the Grilled or Breaded Tenderloin, Hamloaf, Chicken & Noodles, (and yet another of my personal favorites) the breakfast Haystack!
5) Farmer's Market
The Shipshewana Flea Market Farmer’s Market vendors bring a selection of locally grown and fresh seasonal produce with a selection like no other. Near Gates 9 & 10, you can enter and make your purchases of favorites like strawberries, blueberries, apples, peaches, plums, and so much more. (Plus, so many other vegetables, plants and flowers that will make your heart smile!) And when you’re all done, you can pull right in to load up your haul to take home without having to lug your items all over the market grounds.
Open every Tuesday and Wednesday, May through September, you’ll find all this and more with our nearly 700 spaces here in Shipshewana, IN.
Insider Tips:
- Come Hungry: You’ll want to listen to me on this one, you’ll be disappointed if not!
- Bring a Cooler: You may find some perishables and a cooler (plus some ice) will help to keep them from spoiling on your way home.
- Cash is King: But if you forget, we have ATMs at each of the four on site food courts.
- Chat with the Vendors: Vendors love sharing their stories, recommendations and even recipes!
And because I couldn’t help myself, this funny shirt (available in the market at Teulker’s Treasures) goes right along with our food theme and would make a perfect gift for anyone on your list, including yourself!
