1) Remove the Legs
First thing our resident crafting expert did here was to remove the legs so she could get to working on this little makeover to add some "flare" to it.
2) Sand It Down
Next, she sanded each piece to remove that shiny finish!
3) Paint
After sanding each piece, she painted it black with Fusion Paint.
4) Paint Again!
After the first coat, she then painted over it with Waverly Chalk paint in the color Elephant. She didn't have any trouble applying the different types of paint, but you may have to experiment on projects. Sometimes they work and sometimes the don't, but you learn as you go!
5) Paint Once More:) Last Coat, I Promise!
The last coat applied was Fusion paint all over in the color Cotton.
6) Sand & Reassemble
Sand/distress each piece until you achieve the look you love. (All those layers of paint really pay off in this step.) Once you have it the way you want, assemble by putting the legs back on and securing them with wood glue. (She suggests putting something heavy on top to help the glue adhere. Then allow it to dry overnight.
7) Decorate with Transfers
At this point, you can add rub-on transfers to decorate the top and finish it off by sealing them with clear wax by Annie Sloan. And, voila, you have a super cute stool which gives a totally new life to this super find. Display it or add a plan or other cute lil decor to the top to jazz it up even more!
