Decorating with Flea Market Finds from the Shipshewana Flea Market

One of my favorite things about shopping the Shipshewana Flea Market is that you never know what treasures you’re going to find. Every trip brings something new, unique, and inspiring for decorating my home.

For example, during the 2024 Shipshewana Flea Market, I purchased a perfectly chippy little chair from Glick’s booth (#422–423). I instantly fell in love with the color and rustic character—and the best part is, it was only $5! That chair now sits in my front breezeway, where I decorate it each season with flowers and décor to match the time of year.

Mums are another staple I love to pick up from the flea market. This season, I paired my mums with a rusty old container I stumbled across at the market—a vintage bread box. Although it came with a lid, I left the lid off and repurposed the box as the perfect fall planter. Originally, I thought I’d use a galvanized bucket for my porch display, but when I rediscovered that bread box in my stash, it was just the right fit.

That’s what makes the Shipshewana Flea Market so special. Whether you’re into rusty, vintage, or antique décor, you’ll find endless possibilities for repurposing items in fun, creative ways. Even something as simple as a chair or container can become a one-of-a-kind seasonal display.

If you’re a DIY decorator or love to think outside the box, the flea market and swap meets in Shipshewana are filled with inspiration. From furniture to farmhouse décor, garden pieces to collectibles, there’s something for every style.

And if you’re a vendor looking to sell your own treasures, you can learn more about becoming a seller at the Shipshewana Flea Market or swap meets here.

Next time you’re in Shipshewana, plan a trip to the flea market, wander the aisles, and see what inspires you—you never know what $5 find might turn into your favorite seasonal decoration!
