Planning to visit the Shipshewana Flea Market with your four-legged friend? You’re in luck — we’re one of the largest pet-friendly flea markets in the Midwest!
We know your pets are part of the family, and whether you’re road-tripping through Amish Country, camping at our RV park, or just stopping in for the day, you’re welcome to bring your leashed pup along for the adventure.
But before you load up the car and grab the leash, here are a few helpful tips and important pet guidelines to make your visit safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Our Pet Policy at a Glance
- Leashed pets are welcome throughout the outdoor flea market grounds.
- Please keep pets on a leash at all times (6 ft or shorter is best).
- Be courteous and clean up after your pet. Bring your own bags and water.
- No aggressive pets or dogs that aren’t crowd-friendly, please. Our goal is a safe experience for all shoppers — both two- and four-legged.
- Pets are discouraged in the auction building due to close crowds and loud noises.
- Pets are also allowed at our Shipshewana RV Park, located right on the same grounds.
Pet Friendly Extras You’ll Love
While we don’t offer full pet amenities, many of our vendors go the extra mile to make your pets feel welcome. So, you’ll spot the occasional doggie water bowl from time-to-time.

Where Pets Are Not Permitted
To ensure safety, pets are discouraged from entering the indoor Antique & Miscellaneous Auction Building, especially during active auctions. The fast-paced bidding, close quarters, and sound levels aren’t ideal for pets — and we want your trip to be stress-free!
Staying Overnight with Pets?
Our RV Park is a great option for pet owners! With green space and walking areas nearby, it’s a peaceful basecamp for traveling with your dog. However, please note that pets are not permitted inside the Farmstead Inn.
Bring Your Pet, But Plan Ahead
We love seeing dogs stroll the aisles of our outdoor market, and they often become the stars of the show! But a little planning goes a long way:
- Bring water (and a portable bowl)
- Pack cleanup bags
- Keep your pet cool in warm weather
- Avoid coming if your pet isn’t comfortable in crowds
